What They Do:
The function of a Flow Control Valve is to reduce a
pump's flow rate in its leg of a hydraulic circuit.
Changing either the cylinder size or pump size to
regulate speed would be impractical, especially if
a speed change is desired in mid-stroke.
Primary Types and How They Work:
By controlling the rate of flow in a hydraulic circuit,
it's possible to control the speed of the hydraulic
cylinders or motors. A kitchen faucet is a good
example of a simple flow control.
Repair Procedures:
- Disassemble valve completely.
- Clean all parts.
- Replace all parts as needed.
- Replace spools as necessary.
- Replace all seals with Viton seals.
- Correct timing of valve.
- Assemble valve.
- Test valve to 100% rated flow/pressure.
- Paint valve OEM colors.
- Apply new model tag.
- Apply new schematic tag.
